The following is a basic timeline, I plan on elaborating a lot more on each subject, and hopefully find additional information. If anyone has any insight or information that they can cite I would appreciate it, or if any of the following seem misinterpreted please speak up because its important to be as accurate as possible. Thank you

Beginning, before the settlers were the Wyandot Indians

Settlers arrived in the area as early as 1817. The location was at the crossroads of a north-south road from Columbus to Portland (now known as Sandusky), and the east-west route that later became (part of) the Lincoln Highway and subsequently the Harding Highway.

1817 Leveredge family moves in 1818 James Gill becomes first teacher; George Wood helps to build first school 1819 Asa Hosford arrives, brother Horace creates first blacksmith shop

The name Galion was suggested in 1824 by a postmaster as a unique name when the city first obtained a post office, because the name that was originally proposed would have duplicated the names of other requested Ohio post offices.

1831 Galion finally had a name and was established as a village. The city plans were laid out by Michael and Jacob Ruhl A date often given for the founding of the city is 1831.

1832-1835 Galion grew tremendously from German Immigrants

1836-1837 Galion businesses boom up

Galion was the birthplace of Orville J. Nave in 1841. Nave was a chaplain in the United States Army and the editor of Nave's Topical Bible, a widely-used reference work first published in 1896.
